  • RS vs DL

Rosetta Stone has the advantage in learning a language. There’s significantly more pronouncing and although there’s less x = y vocabulary it focuses more on seeing and associating the words with what you see and pronouncing it correctly. I’m strongly considering going all in on it as I have a goal to stay learning.

After going thru Lesson 1, No English words used. Just German vocabulary with picture comparison! AWESOME WAY OF LEARNING along with pronunciation lessons! As soon as I can afford the $199.99 for unlimited, I will most definitely purchase. Then it lets you go over wrong responses to learn correctly. WHAT A CONCEPT OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE!
  • It is ok

I needed to learn German so I downloaded this app. It was teaching me a lot in lesson 1 then I had to buy lesson 2 and the whole pack was $200.00 or so. I wish it was completely free and not a rip off. I ended up downloading a different app that works very well and is free.
  • Very glitchy

Kept shutting down. Would not let me repeat- marking phrase wrong. Like the app count hear no matter how loud or clear I was. Very disappointing.
  • Updated review 3/16/2018

Updated review 3/16/2018: The developers sent out an update which fixed the problem I was having. I was very impressed at their response time (literally two days). The app is great, and the customer service is great match. Original review: The latest version makes the speech recognition feature not work properly. Anytime a question is asked it will not listen to how your pronounce a word. Otherwise would rate the app five stars.
  • Just not as good as other apps

Rosetta Stone is by far the most expensive language app available. And the crazy thing is, it’s nowhere near the best. I’m struggling to get through it just because my company paid for the software for me. So it’s a guilt thing. But I miss Duolingo and Babble and even a few other apps I’ve tried that are better. Rosetta Stone just isn’t any fun to use. The workflow is frustrating. It is lacking the smooth interaction that makes Duolingo so easy to spend time with. For example, the exercises shuffle photos around during the lessons. So matching sounds to pictures requires searching for the photo rather than concentrating on the language. It sounds like a minor thing, but I find it to be dry annoying. (Duolingo doesn’t do this)
