This app needs Arabic for English speakers :( please my exam is soon and I’m planning to graduate this year.
  • No lessons :(

There aren’t any lessons where you can learn the material and then practice them. You kind of have to jump right into being quizzed on it which leads to many errors. I feel like if there was a short lesson, and then a quiz you need to pass to move on, it would be easier to learn
  • Chinese Support

This has been a great app for learning new languages. I was learning Spanish so far. Recently started with Chinese. I would find it helpful if we can see the English translation of Chinese words too. That can help create the memory map for those symbols and words. Thanks to the duolingo team.
  • Ok , but I have a problem

    By Gypsyhorse
I can only do basics because it says I need an account. Then I try to make an account and it says my email is already taken. Well sorry, it’s my email, I’ve had it for years !! So I was thinking maybe I already made an account a long time ago and forgot. But it doesn’t give me an option to sign in, just says ‘create an account ‘ ... I’m stuck and don’t know how to fix it.
  • I hate this

  • Love Duolingo...But the Website Version is Better.

By Miss know it all :-)
First of all, I want to say that I absolutely love Duolingo. It has helped me, and fueled my love for learning foreign languages. But to anyone who is new to Duolingo, I highly recommend you using the website if possible. The reason for this claim is a new feature brought to the app version that I, and as I’ve seen others complain about it, many members of the Duolingo community greatly dislike. This feature is the health bar feature. I honestly don’t understand the point of this feature. Anytime you make a mistake, it takes a health bar away. So for example, if you’re in the middle of a rather challenging lesson, and keep making mistakes, instead of the lesson getting lengthened so you have a chance to fix your mistakes, it just kicks you out of the middle of the lesson if you run out of health. Yes, you can pay for more health, wait up to 5 hours, or you can go back and strengthen other scales (but it only gives you one health bar). But all in all, when you’re trying to learn a new lesson and you can’t because you’re out of health, it’s just really inconvenient all together. That’s why I can’t give this app 5 stars. I’m not trying to say Duolingo is bad, but I just wish they would remove this feature from the app, to make learning lessons easier and less annoying than this health bar is making it!

I think this app is pretty good for sure, I mean visually it’s so neat and appealing it makes me want to use it more. Though I wouldn’t recommend using this to learn a completely new language. It doesn’t give you much context. An example of this is in French, verbs have different ending depending on if you’re using you, we, I, she, he, etc. They don’t explain that to you and you have to try to remember verb ending on your own. I knew this already because I took French in elementary school, and the teachers had good ways of teaching. Before using an app to learn a new language, I would take a class and talk to a person, it’s much easier. So I would use this app if you already know the basics of a language. Another thing which needs to change is the lives. Loosing a fifth with every question you eat wrong doesn’t help, and it forces you to spend in game money to continue after you die or you’ll have to start the whole thing over again! Also, the waiting is atrocious to get a fifth of your health back. 4 HOURS? It should take 30 minutes at most for each in my opinion. I know the app needs to make money somehow other than the adds, but this is not a game, this is an educational app. You don’t pay for public school, it’s in your taxes, why should we be bribed to spend money on Duolingo? Other than that, this is an excellent app and it deserves to be used and learnt from.
